Food in the 21st century has become much more than “meat and potatoes” and canned soup casseroles.” Chefs have gained celebrity status; recipes and exotic ingredients, once impossible to find, are now just a mouse click away; and the country's major cities are better known for their gastronomy than their art galleries. This food movement can be traced back to one man: James Beard. His name graces the highest culinary honor in the American food world today—the James Beard Foundation Awards. And while chefs all around the country aspire to win a James Beard Award, often referred to as the “culinary Oscars,” many of those same chefs know very little about the man behind the medal. For generations, Sa Bastida has been much more than a house: it has been a refuge, a witness, and a vital centre for the Barceló family. Today, however, solitude has settled into every room, and Joan, the last one who remains, carries the living memory of all that it once was. As the arrival of new rhythms, infrastructures, and urban landscapes threatens this fragile environment, the documentary delves into the tension between the persistence of the past and the relentless advance of modernity. With an intimate and contemplative gaze, Dear Sa Bastida portrays not only the physical decay of a home, but also the emotional and symbolic value of a space that is quietly fading away. It is a tribute to the spaces that disappear, to the people who endure within them, and to the need to preserve memory before progress completely erases what defines us.

In the summer, he travels on foot for more than two hundred kilometres, leaving his father to lead the herd to the mountains pastures, in the High Alps Ubaye valley. There, he lives far from everything for many long months, in a mineral and inaccessible world where an invisible being prowls: the wolf. Against the tide of his time, Félix has chosen a profession that isolates him and keeps him out of the world.
